Do you remember the days when you only had one or two channels to watch on your television? Back in the olden days you had ABC and PBS unless you lived where you got really good reception then you got NBC and CBS also. Then if you lived in town or just a few miles out of town, you got the big box that sat next to or on top of your television set that allowed you to have cable. Now no matter whether you live in town or so far back in the sticks that they have to pump your sun light in, you can have Satellite TV.

Low Noise Blocker

Before you decide to subscribe to a satellite provider, you should figure out a few things. The most important thing to decide is how many rooms in your house you will have hooked to the dish. You will need a dual Low Noise Blocker (LNB) dish if you wish to watch different channels in two or more rooms. You will also need a receiver for every room you wish to have satellite in. Think about whether or not you want High Definition (HD) channels this will be a little higher on your monthly bill. Another thing you need to consider is how many channels you want. Do you want a movie channel (no commercials) or just network (commercials)?

Now that you have made up your mind on what you want it is time to find your provider.

Companies- Providers

For Satellite TV there are two major companies that you can choose from. They are Dish network and DIRECTV. Both providers have pros and cons. They are just like all competing companies they offer basically the same thing with minor differences.

DIRECTV

With DIRECTV, you do not have to buy the equipment needed to have their service. You may decide to lease everything you need to have satellite TV. However, if you want to own the equipment you can also purchase it outright form the company. DIRECTV will send out a professional installer to install your system. This is free if you purchase the equipment outright. If you lease the receiver there may be a fee for installation depending on your credit. Once you decide to go with DIRECTV, you have several packages to choose from on your programming. With the right programming, you can create a network and watch DIRECTV on your PC.

Dish Network

With Dish Network, you can either buy your equipment out right or rent it. They will install the equipment and show you how to use it. The installation of the equipment is free whether you rent or own your equipment. The programming with Dish Network starts at $19.99 and goes up from there. With Dish Network you cannot hook your PC up to the receive and watch television on your PC.

Dish Network and DIRECTV both have their good points and bad. What you need to do is decide what you want and call the providers and see which one gives you what you want at the best monthly rate.
