Cellphone MP3 accessories problem?

I purchased a Kyocera cell phone for my son’s birthday. The phone can also be used as an MP3 player. Virgin mobile did NOT send the memory stick nor the USB cable with the purchase so I had to buy these separately. I purchased a Merkury HiSpeed USB 2.0, and a 1 GB Transcend memory stick with the card reader adapter. The memory stick fits inside the card reader which is then supposed to be inserted into the USB. When I hook all this up to my computer (I use Windows Vista so I don’t have to download a driver), the computer recognizes the USB as the F drive, but keeps telling me to insert a disk into drive F. Presumably, it can’t see the memory stick in the memory card reader/adapter OR the memory card reader/adapter is not inserted correctly. It doesn’t FEEL like it’s inserted correctly because it doesn’t "click" into place. Anyone out there have any suggestions? Not including the cell phone, these little purchases set me back another today.

Do I need a dedicated server?

I am considering starting a website that will keep all kinds of information about bars and restaurants in my city. There will probably be 200 or so places with reviews about all of them that users can post along with updates of things that are going on and each place on any given night that the bar owners can update. The front page will have a "whats going on this weekend" section and maybe a "bar of the month" or "drink of the week" along with 3 or 4 ads from local bars or businesses. I’m hoping to get 1000+ hits per day and maybe considerably more. What TYPE of web host do I need? if you recommend a web host please dont just list some place you are affiliated with. I need unbiased information.

what is best web hosting company?

I am designing a data driven website. And to host the website, i need to know which is the best company which will offer a "Dedicated sever" of space 5 GB and better security to my database contents.

The website will be a comprehensive, one-stop resource for small to medium sized US companies wishing to reach out to world /global markets. Our site will serve as a virtual "export division" for our clients, and we will create and manage a dedicated export website for each of our clients for this purpose. We will be able to refer a great deal of business to the designers, SEOs, webmasters, artists, fulfillment services, e-commerce pros, hosting organizations and other web and e-commerce service provides due to our captive relationship with a growing number of clients. In effect, our website will be a profitable, real-time showcasing mechanism for creative, competent, aggressive web professionals who participate in the creation and operation of our "master" website. I am certainly amenable to using a number of professionals as part of a cooperative development team. This website, although rather complex, will be a dazzler, as it must. I seek true artists, visionaries and technologists!

Fair selling price for my computer and accessories?

I have an HP Pavilion a620n desktop PC that I am considering selling to my friend. The PC has been upgraded with an additional 512 MB of RAM,a floppy drive,an Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 video card, and a Soundblaster 5.1 surround sound card(not sure of the exact model). Everything thing else on the desktop is pretty much much what came from the factory.
I am also selling the PC with an Acer AL1951 19" LCD monitor,a Logitech 5.1 surround sound system,a Logitech wireless mouse and model Y-RK56 wireless keyboard, and a Sony dual DVD-RW external drive(model number DRX-820U). Keep in mind all the items previously mentioned, including the PC,are in excellent condition. I was thinking somewhere in the neighborhood of 0 for everything but what would be the most I could expect to get for everything?

I am looking for a good computer desk but can’t seem to find one. This desk needs to be able to hold a 24" iMac, a custom built PC (full ATX tower) with dual 22" monitors in SLI, and at least one of my laptops. I would also need a hutch area behind it to hold my wireless router, alarm clock and other accessories related to my computer. I was looking for an L desk but because of space constrictions I am focusing on a wall desk. A tall wall desk with the hutch would be perfect. Not much in terms of measurements are available. I don’t want anything really beyond 71" wide (that was the problem in the first place). Worst case scenario, I would ditch one of my 22" monitors but would still need room for the iMac and a 22" screen. I know this sounds confusing but if anyone knows of room computer desks that could fit multiple computers please post a link or name and I’d appreciate it. Thanks a lot.

should i buy a digital camera or not?

I’ve been using disposable cameras. I was thinking about buying a digital camera, because "that’s the thing these day".

What are the good and bad things about digital cameras ?

I already know the answer, let see if you do.
4 year old HP desktop. You hit the "on" button, and the PC comes on for exactly 3 seconds and then shuts off.
This happens each time you turn it on.
What is wrong?

Need a hint?
For the short time the PC stays on, the fan in the power supply is turning….then slows to a stop.
Ok….if you said bad power supply…WRONG.
If you said dust and dirt and gunk around the fan…BINGO!!!
WE HAVE A WINNER!!!.
( This actually happened to me. I vacuumed all the gunk out, and it ran fine after that.)

What is a good Laptop Carrying Bag?

I am looking for a laptop carrying bag that has great durability/ protection over the laptop. Enough room to carry other accessories in but small enough to be easily manageable. Weather-proof would be nice too. A small price tag would be great as well.

Please only answers that are based on personal use or research.
For a 13" laptop.

Does anybody know of any bags similar to the "Incase Nylon Backpack" sold at the apple stores? I really like the style of the bag but I don’t wanna pay a womping 100 dollars for it. That’s pretty ridonkulous. Does anybody know of any other trendy bags like this or something similar that are cheaper??

Here’s a link—– http://store.apple.com/us/product/TN010LL/A?fnode=home/shop_mac/mac_accessories/notebook_cases&mco=MzIyMjg1

I have a Kodak Z700 and it eats thru batteries… I am not talking about the disposable kind. I have "Kodak Rechargeable Digital Camera Batteries 2100mAh" Ni-MH AA HR6 1.2V I fully charge these on the charger and when I put them in it is only a short while before I get the low battery indicator on my LCD screen. The camera does not shut down immediately, but that low battery signal will stay on. This drives me crazy because I thought these batteries were specifically for digital cameras! I want to know which kind of rechargeables last the longest so I don’t go out and buy a whole new set with charger and get the same problem.

Looking at 32" Sanyo LCD tv. Have satellite hookup at home. Can I just buy the TV as is, in the box without buying special additional cables and equipment, and plug it in and attach existing satellite cable?

Laptop Suggestions for University?

I’m starting university in September and I would like to get a laptop.

I know practically nothing about computers, so I figured I’d ask for some help.

I want a laptop that is reasonably priced. Around 15 inches is a perfect size. It should be thin and lightweight. I want it to have DVD/CD ROM drive (I think that’s what it’s called). If it came with a webcam, that would be nice. I don’t know what this means, but one of my friends told me to get an "N" over a "G" with regards to wireless internet I believe? One that has a long battery life. It should have tons of memory and a decent graphics card. And one of my friends told me to get one that is compatible with many different types of printers and accessories. so I’m not limited to just one certain brand or anything, My dad also wants me to get one with security features. One that looks pretty would be nice too, but that’s at the very end of the list. Lol!

I’ve heard good things about HP laptops (especially the Pavillions) but I am on their website and I find it so confusing because I really don’t know anything about computers. I just want one that could do all the things I need it to.

I really just want a decent laptop that will last me a long time (I want it to last *at least* for the four years of my schooling). I live in Canada, so it has to be one that is available here.

I do not like Macs. I’ve used them before and I know they’re great, but I just can’t get used to them. I’m more comfortable with a PC.

I’ve been checking websites and flyers for Best Buy and Future Shop, but like I said, because I don’t really understand the terminology and stuff, it’s hard for me to tell which computer is the best for me.

Thank you very much for the help. :)

my 3 choices r a laptop (Dell XPS M1330 or M1550) an iphone (with canada rogers plan) or a ps3

What laptop should I get?

So I am going off to college and my mom doesn’t want me taking my computer (desktop) with me so she’s telling me to out and buy myself a laptop. Since the laptop will be an expensive investment I want to make sure that I get the most out of every dollar I spend on it. The only problem is, is that I’m somewhat of an idiot when it comes to computers and laptops and I have no idea what some things are, their significance or what they do (ex. I have no idea what an "HDMI video out" is, the difference between memory and video memory, etc). So I am turning to Yahoo Answer users who hopefully know a thing or two more than me.

So here are the parameters to what I’m looking for:
-price: 0 (I’m willing to spend an extra [MAX] 0, but keep in mind you would have to rip the extra 0 out of my hands)
-screen size: I’m not too big on small screens and I really don’t care as long as its not small and blurry and whatnot
-performance: It has to run really well and smoothly, I have had bad experiences where everything that I touch just seems to run super slow and lags a lot
-battery life: I really want one that’s going to last for a while, I’m reading my consumer reports magazine and apparently some batteries have a battery life of like 2 hours and it just astounds me that people would invest so much money to have a thing thing that only works for 2 hours, so I’m going to put the bar at around at least 5 hours
–webcam: it would be nice if it had one
-weight: I don’t think I’ll care too much about weight, but then again I’ve never quite owned one so I really wouldn’t know where to set the bar, but for now I’m going to leave it pretty much open
-speakers: good decent ones, it doesn’t have to be super high quality (although, again, it’d be nice)
-usb ports: a few would be nice, but not too many I don’t think I’ll be needing a lot (max maybe about 4?)
-disc: kind of a maybe, I’m the sort that wants to be prepared

Okay so now for the sticky stuff where I’m not quite sure about what I’m talking about. So from what I know memory is aka RAM and that’s what you computer uses for its tasks (sort of? maybe? not really sure) and hard drive is where you actually save all your stuff (please correct me if I’m wrong).
So-
RAM: 3 or 4 GB (again, I’m a techno-idiot, so I’m not sure if that’s enough or too much)
Hard drive: 320 GB? (I kind of want a lot especially since I’m going to use this for 4 plus years)

I just want overall a really good, smooth running laptop that’s reliable and won’t confuse and piss me off when it starts acting up.

By the way I don’t know anything about processors I don’t know the difference between a 2GHz Core 2 Duo or a Pentium Dual Core T4200.

If it helps I will be using this laptop to do everything basically from playing games on Facebook, listening to music, doing projects, maybe making a few home videos here and there, to maybe even playing the Sims 3 (very unlikely, I don’t even have the game, but just to give you an idea). But yeah, emphasis on performance and battery life and its ability to put up with my occasional carelessness.

And this is going to sound really stupid, but…
I’m not sure what accessories automatically come with a laptop so if I have to buy the laptop a case and any other necessary accessories that might accumulate to a significant cost please factor that into your suggestions.

And I’m also hoping that the laptop comes with wi-fi capabilities (I’m not sure if I have to buy it a gadget or if it comes with it’s own internal one). Sorry I know this is sort of long.

Thank you.

ps. If one of you could point me to the direction of a website for computer/laptop/cell phone/technology dummies like myself it would be greatly appreciated, you’ll get a gold star in my book.
Also a note I want as specific as a model as possible. Not just the brand….

"As title mentioned. Mine is a i-mate Ultimate 8502 with windows mobile 6.
Thanks in advance!
"

I just started with a Virtual-Dedicated Server yesterday, created my cpanel account, created my ftp account, logged in, and uploaded some files to my public_html directory. However, when I try viewing anything I’ve uploaded (by going to http://server-ip/file_name in a browser), I get a "Not found" error! My FTP program says the files are there, and cpanel’s file-manager says they’re there, but my browser can’t view them! Any suggestions on what I’m doing wrong?

My index page is still the default cpanel-place-holder page, even though I uploaded a new index.html. My domain name hasn’t been changed yet to the new server, so I’m trying to view my site by typing in its IP address into the browser, rather than its domain name.

Additionally if it helps, cpanel said:

"The hostname (box.my-domain.com) resolves to . It should resolve to "my-ip". Please be sure to correct /etc/hosts as well as the ‘A’ entry in zone file for the domain."

Thanks for reading my question.

cpanel and phpmyadmin?

Im using cpanel whm for my dedicated server. And I added a user to access cpanel so they can install a script on my server. But now that there done installing the script I want to delete their account.

My question is this:

By me deleting their cpanel account, will this also delete their mysql username and password for the database they created?

By me deleting their cpanel account, will this also delete the database they created?

The cpanel username is john, and the database they created is "john_database"

first, are dell computers compatible with, for ex., hp or lexmark, etc., or do we have to stick with dell "accessories?
second, how can we tell if another "brand" of printer will work with our dell computer before we buy? third, is one brand better than another? like on the ink replacements, clarity, price? the new printer would be just for home/pleasure use.
