I’m doing a paper about applications on my computer.. Besides actually counting every single application is there a place I can that will tell me how many I have? If so, where is it? Because I can’t find it anywhere. I also have to include any applications that may have come with your computer, like games and accessories.
According to the add/remove programs I only have 84 programs. I don’t think that is accurate. Since, ALL the programs on my computer are not in the add/remove program section.

I was going to check out Section 8 but I kept hearing mixed reviews about that so I am not sure if I want to spend the on it.
I was also going to pick up Demigod but then I found out it was P2P and I don’t really want to deal with that again after Wolf team. So anyway, I like RPGs, FPS, and the occasional RTS. Also please no pay to play games.
Oh and here are some of my specs.
Windows Vista 64
3 gig DDR2 ram
Nvidia Geforce 9600 GT 512 mb
Intel Pentium Dual CPU 2.4 Ghz
Thank you all for answers.

I’m going to be going to college next year and my Dad and I are looking into laptops. I’m going to be paying for most of it. I have a quite a lot of questions because this is somewhat of a big thing and need help looking for a nice one. I’m not a complete techno-tard and I do know a lot about computers but not much about laptops/desktops. Also I’m going to be using this laptop as practically a home computer but only for myself.
-Price range: I don’t want to be spending over 1500-1800 dollars
-Size: I’m not into those small laptops but then again I don’t want a huge bulky one. I’m thinking a decent sized screen yet not too heavy and easily can fit in a bag to carry with books and such.
-Performance: I’m not looking for a huge amount of storage but I am looking for great performance and a decent amount of RAM and all the good stuff. I plan to use this laptop for everything (Some games online, art, projects, video editing, etc.)
-Brand: Doesn’t really mean much to me but the performance and durability does. I don’t really want a Dell but my dad is able to get a small discount if I do. I don’t know if that’s worth it though. I also heard HP has nice laptops.
-Accessories: USB ports, CD drives, webcam for skyping with my old high school friends, etc.
-WiFi: I really don’t know much about this but I need to know a lot about it.
That’s all I can think of for now, but if you need any additional information I can edit this post. Thanks

Its actually a simulator…Its called Whirl Wind over Vietnam, It got some really crappy reviews but despite that I decided to get it so I did because theres hardly no Games Based on that particular war especially flight simulators so I ordered it and havent recieved it yet but before I do I was just wondering…My computer has a Geforce 6150Le Processor, The minimum for the game is like a geforce 6500, does this necissarily mean I wont be able to play it, Or it will just take a big hit on the Graphics side of things, Like it will play however it wont look as great and Be slower? All other Requirements would be met Besides the Graphics card. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks

I personally haven’t really got into any of the games. After reading multiple reviews about RE5 in PC Gamer and some articles online, they both stated that non-fans of RE 5 should buy it.
I would like your thoughts about it, should I take a risk and go for it? Or should I stay away?

Hi, as the question states, what is your favourite PC strategy game?
I have recently bought World In Conflict and am impressed with that, I have not bought a Command & Conquer in a while… but aside from these, are there any you can reccommend?
I have checked some review sites, but nothing stands out. I like games like Civilisation, but there are so many in that genre. I’m looking if possible for a comprehensive game that lets you lead all aspects of a country, economy, foreign policy etc……..
I have seen reviews for "Democracy" but it is a little simplified for what I am looking for. Something like this but more in depth would be good.
Thanks for any game suggestions. It doesn’t have to even be a recent game, if it is good, I’m interested.

We’ve been having serious trouble with our desktop computer. Dell wont help me becuase my warentee is expired.
The problems were baiscally just the computer running a little slower than nomral. nothing too serious until the start of this year (2009)…. all of a sudden I started getting this blue screen that tells me windows had to shut down and if i see the screen again follow these steps:
"Check to make sure any new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need.
If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as catching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select advanced startup options, and then select safe mode."
I dont know how to do any of those steps.
Also, now we’re having major problems connecting to the internet (which you can see in previous questions i’ve asked very recently). These are problems that I’ve never had before.
Is it safe to wipe out everything on the computer and use the re-instal disk to put it back on? Or, what if we cant find the re-install disk and we use the one that came with my dell laptop.
I dont need to back anything up on that computer as everything i’d want to save is already backed up.
When we re-install things, will i have all the programs on the computer again? Like stuff in my start menu? Basic stuff like internet explorer, the games, the accessories? Or would we have to seperately install all that stuff??
Other than doing this I dont know how else to fix the computer. Its kind of older but not old enough to be "trash"…. It runs better than any computer i’ve ever had or family members have ever had. Its fast, and before this started its been very reliable.
Suggestions?
I’m afraid to take it somewhere to get worked on because I’m terrified of the possibility that they can see my personal information. I do all of my banking/bill paying from the computer desktop computer. And I have a lot of other personal information saved on it in various places. I’m kind of paranoied about identity theft because i’ve had my debit card # stolen several years ago and it caused BIG problems for me.

I have a number of simple questions about computers. I know enough about computers to use them, but with all the recent changes and upgrades, I’m hoping someone can tell me a little more. I am looking for a desktop computer that is a good brand name at a reasonable price (within the 0-00 range) that is compatible with the accessories sold at Wal-Mart (locally, Wal-Mart is the closest place to shop in my area, the nearest electronics store is two hours away). I would also like to know how much RAM and memory capacity I should be looking for in a computer where I would be installing a TV tuner to edit home movies and video clips, as well as several paint shop and word processing programs, but I don’t need any gaming capabilities since I don’t use my computers for games. I would like a computer that has a good processor as well. Any help on just some basics of the new computers would be appreciated.

I am thinking of buying a new laptop. I use my computer for internet searches, shopping, e-mail. I also download photos and music. My son also plays games. What kind of computer do I need and what should I expect to spend. Is 1GB memory enough? I am clueless. Also what if any accessories do I need with a laptop? Thanks
My son only plays games on Nick.com and other kid friendly sites. I have a GATEWAY 2000 right now and it works well for us. I was thinking of buying a Dell. Not good??

I read all the negative reviews about the game. All the negative comments seem to focus on the bugs. However, the game itself sounds good. I don't own a XBOX 360 or PS3. Is the game playable for the PC now? Did you have any problems saving games through Windows LIVE?

I used to play this as a kid on my familys computer. It was a 3-d (reminds me of Wolfenstien or Doom gameplay) puzzle first person shooter.
Everytime i look it up i get other games. Can someone link me to a page to download/review this game? thanks.
Just wanted to add this, it was at least the early 90s when released.

im considering building a new pc for gaming. im planning on buying crysis, but im also on a budget. Im basing my budgeting on the under 00 dollar pc from tom's hardware but am making adjustments since that pc seems more geared to the average user, not the average gamer. im kinda stuck on the kind of hardrive i should get, since i have not seen any reviews on which are good for games. a solid state drive is expensive and im aiming for the 100-150 dollar range, so id like to know, what things should i aim for in a drive? Also, what is the advantage of having two drives working side-by-side?

After much procrastination, I really want to beat Neverwinter Nights 1 so I can move on to the next one. This is mostly because I want to find out the plot of the original, and also because it has been a thorn in my side for years. Many times I have sat down to beat it but have been either frustrated with how tedious it was, or been distracted by other games or real life. As a matter of fact, once upon a time, I actually preordered the game, thinking it was going to be amazing.
The main thing I don't like about the game is the fact that you are expected to do content that is pretty much meant for a 4 or 5 man party with only a single PC and a henchman that severely lacks in AI, especially if that henchman is a spellcaster.
So the main thing I am wondering, is what combination works best?

It's an expensive laptop, and I'm planning on getting it for games. Would it play Sims 2 efficiently? If not, is there any accessories that I could purchase to make it run efficiently?

My Pc has been running high temps lately & I am looking to get either a case fan or slot fan for my PC. What is the best fan for the money.
My PC when idle, the CPU is running between 100 - 140 degrees & my motherboard is running at 150 - 200 degrees. But when I am running any programs like games the temperatures go up & sometimes so high that my pc will shut itself off.
