Is it possible to have different domains sharing one web space?
There are so many web hosting companies now that offer unlimited web hosting service with unlimited domains. Does this mean that I can purchase different domains to point to different sections of the same web space? Of, course all those different domains would have to have different IP addresses. This way Google doesn’t complain when I link all my sites which reside on the same web space.
Is this a service that the web hosting companies provide? Do I have to purchase this service separately from the regular web hosting package? What is the name of this? Dedicated IP addresses or shared web space?

There are many webhosts that permit you unlimited domains. All you have to do is purchase your new domain and point it at your nameservers.
If you want a unique IP for each one, you will have to arrange for that separately from your host, and there’s probably an extra cost. There is with mine.
Some web hosts offer this on some plans.
It’s called unlimited domains.
I recommend one of these: http://www.hosttell.com/
Powweb is on a 50% sale – $3.88/month ($46.56/year), and you get a free domain from them.
Godaddy doesn’t offer a free domain, but you can get one for $2.19 if you’re buying hosting from them, plus they also have a 20% sale at the moment.
You don’t have to get different IP for every domain, it’s expensive, and completely unnecessary. Google won’t punish you for crosslinking your websites under the same IP.
