I upload files to my website via FTP, but they don’t appear in my browser?
I just started with a Virtual-Dedicated Server yesterday, created my cpanel account, created my ftp account, logged in, and uploaded some files to my public_html directory. However, when I try viewing anything I’ve uploaded (by going to http://server-ip/file_name in a browser), I get a "Not found" error! My FTP program says the files are there, and cpanel’s file-manager says they’re there, but my browser can’t view them! Any suggestions on what I’m doing wrong?
My index page is still the default cpanel-place-holder page, even though I uploaded a new index.html. My domain name hasn’t been changed yet to the new server, so I’m trying to view my site by typing in its IP address into the browser, rather than its domain name.
Additionally if it helps, cpanel said:
"The hostname (box.my-domain.com) resolves to . It should resolve to "my-ip". Please be sure to correct /etc/hosts as well as the ‘A’ entry in zone file for the domain."
Thanks for reading my question.

You might have to change the access way to the IP address followed with /username to gain access since the site is still being configured. Then again you may just have to give them the typical 48 to 72 hours to finish things on their end. Many times the files are saved to the server but not accessible until they are ready for you to send traffic to the site. Hope this helps
