How can I delete things permanently from My PC?
I have a Compaq laptop from windows XP and I’m not sure how to delete things permanently from my PC. If I go to Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools and Disk Cleanup then I cleanup C Disk, does it take it off permanently? I’m kind of iffy about going to websites and downloading things to erase things, because it ends up getting half way there and you have to pay for it. So I’m just wondering about the Disk Cleanup, And also if your a great computer Wiz what does a disk defragmenter do?

They only purpose I’ve ever found for Windows Disk Cleanup is where it compresses old files. Everything else that it does is done better by CCleaner.
And no, CCleaner won’t do a partial job and then ask you to buy it.

As far as defragmenting, when data is written to your hard drive, Windows pretty much scatters it around the disk in the most convenient places available at the time. Basically, a defragmentor puts these fragmented bits back together.
