All the cable companies have their service divided into separate packages. You sometimes need to buy 30 additional channels that you don’t want just to get 2 or 3 that you do want. My guess is that they do this just to get you to purchase the premium package. Would it really be that difficult for these companies to offer you 30 channels of YOUR choice for a set price?

Best WW2 game for PC?

I’ve just bought a new laptop and looking to buy a good WW2 game.

I’ve played most of the WW2 games for the PS2, Brothers in Arms, Call Of Duty, Medal Of Honor, etc.

What is the best WW2 game you can buy for the PC?

I’ve read different reviews that Call Of Duty is the best series out there, I’ve also read that the Medal Of Honor series is the best, including the new Medal Of Honor Airborne…..????

Here are specs of my laptop, could I run the game on High, Med, or Low settings?

Intel Core 2 Duo T7300, 2.0GHz, 800Mhz FSB, 4M L2 Cache
3GB, DDR2, 667MHz 2 DIMM
256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT
160G 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
Windows XP Professional, SP2

I understand that Call of Duty 4 comes out in November (hopefully for PC also) so I will definately be buying that!

Thanks

Need suggestions for one that is adequate for beginner. Nothing really fancy. Brand, model, accessories needed, moderate price, decent pictures. Add any other info a novice can use.

Web hosting over dial up internet?

Is it possible to host my own web hosting site over dial up internet. Please do remember every time I connect(dial) internet I get a new IP address and it is not dedicated IP. My local address(shown in network icon) is in range 10.x.x.x but my gateway IP(shown in who.is) is in range 119.x.x.x . I use apache as web server.

Now is it possible that my hosted sites can be shown over internet when i connect to internet and started web server?

What is a good Laptop Carrying Bag?

I am looking for a laptop carrying bag that has great durability/ protection over the laptop. Enough room to carry other accessories in but small enough to be easily manageable. Weather-proof would be nice too. A small price tag would be great as well.

Please only answers that are based on personal use or research.
For a 13" laptop.

It disappoints me to print out digital camera photos, because they LOOK like they were digital photos. Is there any way to get the same quality as if I had got a disposable camera developed?

I suspect there is hardware failing somewhere in my computer and I was about to begin using the different test programs available for testing the different hardware components (like memtest), but I was wondering if anyone can suggest any good tools or programs that can run a full test of all PC hardware for potential and existing problems. Do there exist any single program that scans your hard drive, motherboard, system memory, and peripheral cards (video, audio, network, etc.) for potential and existing problems?

Thanks for all your help in advance!

Mac or PC? or any computer you recommend?

I’m thinking about buying a new computer and i’m interested in buying a Mac but worried about compatibility issues and possibly other mishaps. To make it simple, i’m going to outline several things i’m going to be using it for.

1. Laptop
I’m going to college soon so it would nice to have something to carry around.

2. No gaming
i’m not using my computer for any gaming what so ever.

3.I have a budget of about 00 to 00

4. i’m getting interested in recording my own music (not seriously though) and a performance nut…so that means a lot of RAM, a decent audio card, and a good processor (Intel Dual Core 2.4-3.0 GHz would be good ..)

5. I’ll also be using this for school, so it would be nice if i didn’t have problems working with printers, USB, programs, formats, or other computers. Group projects are important!

6. Wireless internet would be nice.

7. Is there a way for me to record my lectures in class? maybe a built-in camera i can flip around? or any accessories?

8. Good battery life…enough to get through a day of lectures and maybe a little more

9. I prefer windows just because it would work with more programs but I heard about good things about the Boot Camp thing Mac has. Is it any good?

if you have any suggestions, I would be glad to hear!

So I lost my memory card but all of my pics are on my computer. I have not had pictures developed since my son was like 8 months so I have about 7 months of pics not developed. So if I get one of those Kodak printers or one of the printers that print pictures, do I have to have the memory card or can I print them off the computer.

What is the best printer/paper?

Thank you!

What Digital Camera Should I Buy?

I need to buy a digital camera for my job. I work outside and use at least 4 rolls a day – busting budget. I am take action shots from a distance. I need to be able to zoom into the action. At times I am upto 20 feet way from the action. Somestimes, my subjects are above my head.

I am not a professional. I am doing this as a special assigment for my job. Eventually, the pics will end up on the internet – photo journal. I do not know anything about camers. So if you use technical terms, I will not understand.

However, I plan to take a photography class to learn more. Therefore, I want a good camera with a few whistles and bells, something that I can grow into.

I was told that larger cameras are easier to handle: hold, aim, less shaky. Is this true? Does size matter? If so, I would like a larger camera. In any case , I do not want a small pocket size camera.

I need the camera to be very inexpensive… if possible, under 0.

Thanks in adance for your input.
Forgot to ask – Where is the best place to shop for the best price?

I have always had HP desktops but I am buying a notbook for school this fall. I would like to get the apple air but I’ve never used an apple and it seems like everything is super complicated and way more expensive and like they dont come with much. But I need a very light easily carriable computer. I want something that will hold tons of picutres and music and has a great viewing system. I need to do lots of word processing. I also want it to be cute and stylish. I have around 2,000 dollars for all of the compnents accessories and operating systems. What would you recommend?

I have just bought free sat HD, but didn’t realise you needed a dish to view it. I live in an apartment block where there is a communal dish, and was subscribed to sky tv a while ago, so I know it works. Do I need a special free sat dish, or can I use the communal 1?

How fast can digital cameras take a picture?

What terminology is used to describe how quickly a digital camera takes the picture after you press the button.
What is range of timing?
What is typical timing?

I bought a laptop last year that has integrated bluetooth. I would assume that accessories are available to allow me to use the technology. I have looked on the web for bluetooth speakers but find few results. I can’t believe they don’t exist, but it does seem that way. Can anyone help?

I would like to set up a personal wiki to organize some of my thoghts and information. I am a subscriber to Yahoo’s basic web hosting plan. This service does not include SSH access to the web servers. Instead, Yahoo mostly allows FTP access, mySQL setup, and limited PHP scripting.

Some wiki’s are supposed to be lightweight and easy to install, requiring only basic PHP/mySQL setup. Is it possible to run and manage one of these using Yahoo’s basic web hosting solution, and if so, which one would you recommend?

Help me Connect my laptop to tv!!!!? Please!?

Here’s a picture of the S-video adapter I have. http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/products/Cables/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&cs=19&sku=310-9336

Now, it doesn’t go directly into the tv but from looking at the back of the tv, I know it has 4 holes of the same color (Black, Blue, Red and Green) In those 4 colored holes in the back of the tv is a thick white wire branching out at the end with those 4 color coded wires going inside the slots. After following the wire I found that it connects from the back of the tv into the Comcast Digital Cable Box.

Here’s my question– Since it seems like the only way to use the adapter to connect my computer to the tv, do I take out the ends in the Comcast Box and insert them in my adapter, and then the adapter to my laptop? I just don’t want to mess anything up before I do this.
Btw its a plasma tv if that makes any difference. But it shouldnt bc i asked someone and they said this adapter should work for it.

Yahoo Web Hosting for Photography..Good Idea?

Hi, I currently have my own photography website through BetterPhoto.com, and am quite sick and tired of the glitches and nuances revolving around it.
I saw the promo ad for Yahoo Web Hosting, and the unlimited pages immediately caught my attention. I’m not a proffesional photographer, just a hobbyist, therefore I don’t need a fancy-shmancy website design…basically all I’m looking for is a site layout that is easy on the eyes, allows unlimited pages so I can add as many galleries as I wish, and to have the ability for people to comment on each picture, and contact me.
I’m thinking along the lines of looking something like my MySpace’s Photo Galleries, but being solely dedicated to my passion for photography, plus having a customize domain name?

Is Yahoo Web Hosting something that would suit me?
Thanks for any/all input =)
Ok, I appreciate all the input on the other sites, and I know there are multiple other options out there, too…but I’m only interested in finding out about the Yahoo Web hosting….preferably from somebody that is currently using it, or has used it in the past. Pros, cons…the typical run down from a first hand experienced user of it. Thanks =)

I lost my power chord in Kyoto O_O
